Thanks for the review and some analysis. I havent ranked my favorite Hitchcock films but now I'm thinking about it the Birds would probably make the top 5. The set pieces are amazing and the images are presented like paintings, the way the characters are framed, the colors of their clothesand the locations, etc. It's also a weird movie, always feels a bit askew, going back and forth between scenes that are very quiet and solitary, to scenes packed with humans and birds, all of them flailing about in a state of chaos. And it ends on such a quiet, dreadful note as they leave in that tiny car with a roof of some kind of fabric, not a protective steel. It doesn't bode well for the characters, it's as if Hitch is doing us a favor by not showing us what happens to them. I'll have to watch the Birds again!
